Seguramente recordarás que ya hemos visto el verbo TO HAVE en sus dos formas. Realizaremos un pequeño repaso de estos.
1) El verbo TO HAVE cuyo significado es TENER. Ejemplo:
They have a small dog
They don't have a small dog
Do they have a small dog?
Yes, they do / No, they don't
2) El verbo TO HAVE GOT cuyo significado también es TENER. Ejemplo:
They have got a small dog
They have not (haven't) got a small dog
Have they got a small dog?
Yes, they have / No, they haven't
Ahora bien, existe una nueva acepción cual es HAVE TO cuyo significado demuestra necesidad o firme obligación. En castellano se podría traducir como - TENER QUE (como obligación) y necesariamente deberá estar acompañada de otro verbo en infinitivo. Ejemplos:
Yo debo estudiar hoy = I have to study today
Ella debe ir al médico = She have to go to the doctor
